THE Department of Health (DOH) recorded a new low of 2,303 new COVID-19 infections today, lower than yesterday’s 3,117 count, according to the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, November 2, 2021.
This is a new record low in the past eight months when the DOH tallied 2,067 cases last March 2, 2021.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 2,792,656 cases.
Active cases, on the other hand, again slid further to 40,786 cases today after registering a 43,185 count yesterday. Active cases or patients are those undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.
Recoveries from COVID-19 today, meanwhile, registered 4,677 new recoveries after posting 5,124 recoveries yesterday. Overall, COVID-19 recoveries in the country have reached a total of 2,708,466 cases.
The DOH also recorded 128 COVID-19 fatalities today compared to yesterday’s 104 deaths to bring the total COVID-19 deaths to 43,404.
Positivity rate today, meanwhile, went down to 6.8 percent from yesterday’s 7.5 percent based on 29,679 people who were tested.
Around 76.3 percent of the cases were mild and asymptomatic, the DOH bulletin noted.
A total of 22 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 19 were recoveries.
There were also 106 cases that were tagged earlier as recoveries but were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
All laboratories were operational on October 31, 2021 while eight laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the eight non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 1.2 percent of samples tested and 1.0 percent of positive individuals.
The agency continues to remind the public to ensure their safety and to strictly observe safety protocols and to have themselves vaccinated as soon as possible. It also reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
