THE Philippine National Police (PNP) reminded the public not to fall for the offer of some groups that sell RT-PCR test or fake COVID-19 results
This was the reminder made by PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar after three suspects were caught in Quezon City faking a swab test result. The victims paid almost P16,000 for their results which they later found out to be fake.
The test results even had the logo of the Philippine Red Cross.
“The crime of faking of RT-PCR results is no joke especially since we’re still in the middle of a pandemic. The safety and health of our kababayan from COVID-19 rests on these results,” PGen Eleazar said.
“That is why we have already instructed our police personnel even before to focus on the scheme of faking COVID test results and other important documents related to COVID-19,” the PNP Chief added.
The suspects, who denied the accusation, are already under custody of the Quezon City Police District Station 7.
The PNP chief said their operations against this kind of scheme continues and that they have already caught many of the perpetrators and have already filed criminal cases against them in the past months.
PGen Eleazar urged the public to report to authorities if they are victimized by this kind of swindlers.
“We also remind the public not to patronize these schemes because they will also be charged if they are caught in possession of faked documents,” said PGen Eleazar
