THE confiscation of a total of P34 million worth of shabu in an anti-illegal drugs operation conducted in Sucat, ParaƱaque City was hailed by Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar.

The suspect was identified as Kenneth Vito Cruz, who was arrested by police operatives and anti-drugs agents in a buy-bust operation conducted along 11-325 Fountain Breeze Lombos Avenue in Barangay San Isidro last week.

“I would like to commend our personnel and the PDEA for the confiscation of a large quantity of shabu in an operation in ParaƱque City. This is proof of the good relations between two agencies in our aggressive campaign against illegal drugs,” said PGen Eleazar.

It can be recalled that the PNP and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) signed a coordination agreement in July this year to strengthen information-sharing and interoperability after a misencounter between the police and PDEA agents in Quezon City.

Since then, the anti-illegal drug operations yielded positive results that include more or less P6 billion worth of confiscated shabu in a series of operations in Zambales, Bataan, Cavite and Cebu.

Aside from the four kilograms of shabu, authorities also seized P1,000 and a mobile phone from the suspect, who will be facing charges for alleged violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PGen Eleazar said follow-up investigation is being conducted to identify the suppliers of the confiscated shabu.

Meanwhile, he urged the public not to hesitate to come forward to authorities if ever they have relevant information regarding illegal drugs operations in their areas.
